Milan boards supply secured (23.10.2001 - 08:10 Uhr)

The supply of Milan boards (68040 version) seems assured. As Milan Computersysteme explained to st-computer, a Dutch hardware producer has bought the rights to the board design. This company has been producing gaming machines with Milan technology for a long time and apparently wants to secure its own supply. However, they are also willing to sell boards to interested Atari dealers. As soon as there is more information, we will publish it. (tr)

New background light for Lynx? (23.10.2001 - 07:10 Uhr)

The backlight of the Atari Lynx has a relatively high power consumption and therefore significantly reduces battery life. To minimise this problem, a new backlight for Atari's portable game console is currently being developed. White LEDs are to be used, which have a much lower power consumption. First pictures and a project status can be found on the developers' website. (tr)

Internet stack for Atari XL/XE? (22.10.2001 - 10:10 Uhr)

As the German online service "Atari-Home.de" reports, it may soon be possible to go online with the Atari XL/XE. Currently a stack is in the works that is based on "uip". uip is only about 4 KBytes "big" and is written in cc65. uip can also be easily ported to the Atari 8 Bit. Ken Siders has taken on this task and has already done large parts of the interface control. The only problem is that uip only offers SLIP access. After uip is finished for the XL/XE, however, the developer also wants to work out a PPP layer. (tr)
